The opera setting is Byron's last year
in Greece. The libretto moves from
Sounion, Act I, to Missolonghi, Act II,
to Athens and London, Act III. On
arrival his second time to Greece,
Byron meets his Muse in moonlight
at Sounion after his ship lands
on the cape. Then Byron lives
with Palikar fighters, dies in
Greece and is celebrated in Athens,
where a laurel crown is placed on his
casket.
